Useful education and fun for children
The games
Language learning and project work
At LuckyKids language training is organized around project topics. We, the professionals in the camp, carefully choose our topics. They need to include a unique idea, many ways to explore, valuable facts from the known and unknown world, opportunities for children’s cooperation and unexpected discoveries.
Here are some of them: “Our planet Earth”, “Aliens”, “Clothing through the ages”, “Games” and many others.
The stages of the fun called Project Work
The introduction of the topic
The day begins, the children are in the so-called classroom – a hall where there are enough visual and digital tools, tools for drawing and creativity.
We introduce the topic, give the background! This is the moment “Wow!” for children. They understand that an extraordinary journey awaits them, not just memorizing words and writing under dictation.
When the teacher greets you with the words: “Children, today we will meet an ancient civilization, which built an underwater city, and its people could breathe underwater!”, your child’s heart skips a beat and begins to get excited about the upcoming adventure.
The path of the study
True learning begins when the child is attracted to the idea of the project and he has the desire to learn more about the topic. We strongly encourage this phenomenon! We carefully cultivate the curious child’s mind and navigate it.
The adventure begins!
The child, together with his peers, opens the magical door of knowledge. The research can be digital, and can consist of looking at an encyclopedia, books, talking to other campers and the teacher, or simply gathering facts from a variety of sources.
Assembling the project puzzle
It is well known that reviewing information is not knowledge in itself. It is an accumulation of facts! An idea-solder is needed to unite them and to obtain knowledge through their quantity.
Our campers do just that: look at facts related to the topic, find them in different ways, collect them. Then they need to decide, in groups, how to present what they have learned best, so that they can present it to the other children!
Certainly all the time, communication with the teacher is in English, children are encouraged to use the language with each other! All the information they collect is in English. They have the right to use dictionaries to find the unknown meanings of words.
This type of learning is most effective, as it is carried out imperceptibly, in the process of making the project, through the interest of the child. Instead of trying to memorize twenty to fifty words a day, writing exercises, the child learns more than a hundred, as he develops the topic of his favorite wildlife or life in the future.
The implementation of the project idea
The great treasure hunt is over – the facts and information have been gathered. An even more exciting moment is coming – how to arrange everything so that it is aesthetically pleasing and interesting!
For many children, this is a key moment in learning! They have a strong desire to present their point of view on a given topic, this is their moment, their discovery, their knowledge.
Project posters, movies, or drawings are unusual, they impress with a pure and unadulterated children’s point of view. Sometimes children make an unconscious new reading of some ideas that we adults are already used to.
The presentation of the result of the project work
Will others understand us! Will we be able to intrigue them? Will we have supporters of our idea or will they just laugh at how “stupid” what we present is!
Every child has their similar worries. We, the teachers, are always by their side at this extremely important moment. There is also a slightly competitive element between the children. It is completely human to want to be the best, the most interesting, the most, the most….!
It is wonderful that the children are not alone in these projects – they work as a team and create as part of a small community. This gives them extra confidence and faith in their own abilities.
The finale – is it a finale?
Completing the project is a great moment of satisfaction!
In my practice, there are many cases in which children do not want to finish developing a topic. It continues to appear in their daily conversations, they want to seek and explore more than they are given.
They transfer their interest in it in their daily lives. From this topic, an interest in other ideas can be born, which will transfer them to a new topic. The magic circle of knowledge is spinning – our secret recipe for success.
The games
LuckyKids is the realm of games. Those forgotten games of hide and seek, folk ball, jumping rope, queen, Black Peter and thousands more that take us back to the real childhood.
Our games are organized by experienced animators who present the rules and play constantly with the kids. We pay special attention to the game moment, during our themed dinners and entertainment.
We organize racing games such as:
- sack racing
- Jumping in pairs with legs tied together
- carrying water with a spoon
- fight with pillows
- tangle, etc.
We play a lot outdoors, this is important for us to lift the mood, maintain good physical shape and cohesion:
- folk ball
- grass rolling competition
- blind grandmother
- pots
- I run I run a towel
We use other types of games when we travel to make time interesting and enjoyable, we play associations, I see something blue, movies, we list or classify objects. Of course we sing a lot and study famous hits, which are a great way to spend time on the road.
There are also so-called quiet games – Monopoly, Don’t be angry man, Uno cards, chess, sea chess, Truth or Dare and others.
Children like equally active and quiet games – each at its own time. We offer an endless array of games, they make their choice! The important thing is to have fun and learn by playing!
